Second Harvest Heartland
More than 600,000 people in Minnesota and western Wisconsin are at risk of missing a meal on any given day. For the 1 in 10 people here who don’t know where their next meal is coming from, Second Harvest Heartland is integral to the region’s emergency food system. The Life Time Turkey Day Run Minneapolis joined forces with Second Harvest Heartland, one of the nation’s largest, most efficient and most innovative food banks to collect 733 pounds in 2006. In 2013 Second Harvest Heartland was able to provide 65,803 meals because of the monetary and food donations made by the Turkey Day Run participants. In 2014 we are hoping to collect more than 20,000 pounds of food for the less fortunate in our community. A $1 donation is the equivalent of 3.7 meals, please consider making a donation during the registration process to help those in need in the Twin Cities area. We are very thankful to all past and future participants whose generous donations allow us to serve Minnesota residents in need.

When coming down to the Turkey Day Run Minneapolis, there are three tips people should remember to minimize delays and maximize their enjoyment of the event.
There are many parking lots and ramps throughout downtown within a short walk. The ABC and Hawthorne Ramps adjacent to Target Center are great options.
Northstar’s Target Field Station, adjacent to the new ballpark of the Minnesota Twins, can provide a critical connection for runners, including Hiawatha Light Rail service to the airport and Mall of America, as well as bus service from the nearby 5th Street Transit Center. Please be aware some commuter lines may be running on a holiday schedule. Check metrotransit.org for scheduling information.
