Food Donations & Community Support

Second Harvest Heartland
The Life Time Turkey Day 5K joined forces with Second Harvest Heartland to collect 733 pounds in 2006. By 2009 we collected more that 10,000 pounds of food. This year we are hoping to collect more than 15,000 pounds of food for the less fortunate in our community. We are very thankful to all past and future participants whose generous donations allow us to serve Minnesota residents in need.

When coming down to the Turkey Day 5K, there are three tips people should remember to minimize delays and maximize their enjoyment of the event.

  1. Plan ahead – Visit targetcenter.com to learn more about all your transportation choices.
  2. Know your parking options – There is parking availability throughout downtown, most within 12 blocks of Target Center. If you prefer convenient access to the Target Center, the adjacent ABC and Hawthorne ramps are great options.
  3. Consider transit and bicycling – Target Center is an extremely transit- and bicycle-friendly facility, and it’s easy to get there by light rail, commuter train, bus or bicycle. Bicyclists are reminded to use headlights and taillights when conditions warrant.

Parking
There are many parking lots and ramps throughout downtown within a short walk. The ABC and Hawthorne Ramps adjacent to Target Center are great options.

Taking transit
Northstar’s Target Field Station, adjacent to the new ballpark of the Minnesota Twins, can provide a critical connection for runners, including Hiawatha Light Rail service to the airport and Mall of America, as well as bus service from the nearby 5th Street Transit Center.
